Technique #1 – Dipping
There’s so much creative liberty with what you can do with even a small lick of paint, and our first technique is dipping. Dip the point you want to accent into a bit of your paint , as shown above with our ceramic bird’s beak. Then you let the excess drip off, and this ensures an even coat of paint!
Technique #2 – Ombre
A little more care is required for this second technique. Using a fine-tipped paintbrush, brush your paint gently from the top of your item. Above, the paint is concentrated at the tip of the antler and gets thinner at the bottom (this may require you to apply paint more than once at the tip). This gives a pretty fading-out look, and would work wonderfully for a faded vintage effect.
Technique #3 – Focal Points
In this third technique, we ask that you choose a focal point on your decorative item and, with a flat-tipped brush, paint it. Above, the butterfly has been accented in gold, and now it really stands out against the rest the ornament. It draws the eye beautifully!
The Golden Result!
You could use any colour you want to accent your items, and the final results will look something like these:
Of course, with the above items you don’t have to use them as card holders. You could simply use them as decorative elements all on their own—such as part of a table centrepiece—or as wedding favours for your guests. Also, you don’t have to stick to using paint to accent your decorations. You could do more, and experiment with things like glitter.
Gold is a stunning accent to your wedding, and it has become something of a traditional colour choice beside white or ivory. From table decorations to bridal accessories, it’s a real sprinkle of elegance on your wedding decor.
