Denise and Ched Real Engagement Story

Written by    Last updated: August 17, 2006

Ched was the last person I expected to propose to me. He was my cousin’s bandmate back in high school and he’s four years older than I am. The only time he talked to me was when I graduated college back in ’99 and asked me out.

He works at ‘Ralphs’ in the day and performs with his rock band at a small bar. He’s the quiet type, but I have to admit, a lot of girls liked him. So I was really ‘psyched’ when he asked me to marry him last November.

It’s so unlikely of Ched to be sensitive about me not going to his gigs, mainly because I have to work in the morning and can’t afford to stay up late, but one day he practically begged me to go, and I did.

After beggining his last song, a girl shouted at him "Ched, your so hot! You wanna go out sometime?" I just laughed, because a lot of people yell out to him and usually Ched doesn’t mind.

To my surprise, Ched grabbed the mic and smiled. "I’m sorry, but I’m engaged to the girl in the black dress at table 7."
I opened my mouth wide, thinking that he was just making fun. But when he got down from the stage and took a blue box from his pocket, I knew it wasn’t a joke.

"I’m not asking you, cause you might say no, so… you’re marrying me!" He joked. "I love you Denise…"
All I could do was nod because I was too overwhelmed. He had never said those words to me before and I was just so happy. I’ll never forget that day.

We’re going to get married this August 17, 2003…
