4th July 2009
We met on the internet on a friendship networking website.
I am 23 and Steven is 29
Steven proposed to me on Christmas day a few years ago, we were opening our presents and I opened a box with shredded tissue paper in it, as I opened the lid and saw the ring Steven asked me to marry him.
I had 2 hen nights, a big one with all of our family and friends, we all got dressed up in fancy dress and went on a pub crawl in Newcastle. And my second one was in Kassiopi, Corfu, with Stevens family. Steven only had one stag night, in Kassiopi, both groups had t-shirts printed.
We decided on a lot of things together, although I did most of the planning and just asked him if he liked it!
I used the forums a lot, looking for different tips. I also used the shop part to look for gifts and table decorations.
No, but I used the catalogue for inspiration.
I had an Ivory dress with pink detailing, a dimante veil and ivory shoes. I got the dress from the Wedding Studio in Blyth, Northumberland, my shoes were from New Look, and the veil was from Dainty Supplies in Washington.
I had 2 young bridesmaids. One was my sisters daughter and the other was Steven’s brothers daughter. They both wore baby pink dresses with a glittery white sash, that tied in a bow at the back, which my Mam made.
Steven chose his brother to be his best man and we didn’t have any ushers. The groom wore a light pin-striped suit, pink shirt, pink tie and pink waistcoat. The best man and father of the bride wore light-pin striped suit, white shirt, pink tie and pink waistcoat.
We had a religious ceremony.
Trinity Church, Ashington, Northumberland.
White House Club, Ashington
Mercedes E class, avante garde, which my Uncle was the chauffeur in.
60ish to the daytime with another list including others for the evening
We had pink and white colour scheme
We used light pink, brighter pink, and white balloons (and weights) and table confetti.
Yes. The women received a pink organza bag containing 5 sugared almonds and a small bottle of Dolce and Gabana -The One perfume, and the men received a pink organza bag containing 5 chocolate footballs and a miniature bottle of either brandy, whisky or vodka.
I used Flowers by Dawn, Newbiggin, Northumberland. I had a shower of white roses and stargazer lilies. And the bridesmaids had posies of white roses with diamantes in the centre.
We used an outside caterer and had a hog roast with all the trimmings, followed by fruit platters and cream cakes.
A close family friend made the cake, it was 3-tiers, iced in white icing with different sized pink icing hearts on it.
In the evening we had a Dj who played a wide range of songs.
No we did not make a gift list.
We went on holiday before the wedding and spent or first night, home alone.
Walking up the aisle and seeing Steven waiting at the end, then saying our vows together.
Everything went absolutely brilliantly.
I wouldn’t change anything at all!!! Advice – stick to your guns and do things how you and your groom would like it, after all it is YOUR special day.
