Lisa and Stuart Real Engagement Story

Written by    Last updated: August 21, 2006

After quite a hectic year, Stuart insisted we went away for a couple of days. So being keen walkers, we decided to go walking in Derbyshire. We arrived on the campsite on the 1st of July 2002 to a very chilly, wet and windy welcome, but still decided to stay. That evening we went out to dinner, and Stuart seemed to be deep in thought and kept looking at me with what seemed to me as if I’d got something in my hair. On the 2nd of July we walked up Kinder, some very nice countryside. During this walk we had brilliant sunshine, a little rain, and as we reached the top the clouds came in. We decided this was a good time to stop for lunch, and as we did so Stuart started a conversation about love and life. The next thing I knew he was on one knee asking me to marry him! I was a little surprised. To start with I thought that it was just a normal conversation about the future, so I replied with “Of course I would, all you have to do is ask me!” So he asked me again, to which I said yes! He later remarked that out in the countryside would be the only place I would believe him! The family was also a little surprised, many of them thinking that we would possibly just keep living together. Following our announcement there was a frenzy of activity culminating in numerous engagement parties happening as we told people. We are mid-way through our wedding plans and are getting married on 23rd August 2003, and are extremely happy! It is a pleasure to share our story with you.
