Lucy and Rob

Date of proposal

How old were you both when you got engaged?

Lucy was 20 and Rob was 23

Who proposed?

How did your partner (or you) propose?

We were on holiday in Euro Disney for Monday to Friday. On the Friday, Rob had been acting a little nervous all day. Towards the end of the day we went up into sleeping beauty’s castle, however it was quite busy and Rob seemed to be getting more and more anxious. Then we walked down to a wishing well in front of the castle. By this time, Rob was even more anxious, and people kept coming over and putting money down the wishing well. After 5 minutes, I said to Rob lets go back to the park and carry on walking around as it was our last night there. He wanted to stay for a bit longer and when everyone had finally gone, he got down on one knee and presented me with my dream engagement ring and popped the question. I started crying with happiness and said yes.

Who did you share the news of your engagement with first?

Lucy’s mum

Describe your ring.

An art deco style ring, dating from around 1930’s. Two Circular cut larger diamonds claw‐set with two circular‐cut diamond with stepped geometric shoulders set with 10 diamonds, on an 18ct gold and platinum shank.

Did you help choose the ring?

I spotted it at an auction a year and half before Ron proposed. I told him I liked it and was up to him whether he bought it or not. He admitted that he did try and bid for it but was out bid so didn’t get it. I was so suprised when he presented it to me!

Did you have an engagement party?

No, but we were on holiday with another couple, Lyndsey and Wayne (who were in on the plan ‐ Lyndsey and I have been best friends for 10 years!) so we had a bottle of Champagne with them that evening.

When do you plan to marry?

12th June 2010 ‐ We met on 12th June 2004 ‐ I always joked about getting married in 2010 as it is a nice round date. Low and behold, when I looked at the calendar it was a Saturday ‐ definately meant to be!

What are you looking forward to the most about planning a wedding?
