How and when did you meet?

We met working in a local pub about seven years ago. We became friends and we both knew straight away we were meant to be together. We went on a date and never looked back since. I’ve never been this happy. Didn’t think it could quite be true.

How old are you both?

I’m 29 and my hubby is 27.

Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?

We had been going out for three months and Dave had scattered flowers all over the house with candles lit everywhere. He had made me a lovely meal and then afterwards he just asked really.

Did you have hen and stag celebrations? If so, what did you do?

Yes we did my hubby went out for few drinks and I went out for a meal and few drinks.

How did your groom help with the wedding planning?

He didn’t really. He just agreed with everything I said mostly.

Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?

Yes gave me lots of ideas.

Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it

I wore a Alan Hannah dress called Seville made of duchess satin in ivory. It was a two piece, A-line skirt with train and bodice with beading.

Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?

Yes the children wore ivory dresses with net/petticoat skirts with rose petals on and the adults wore Dessy pink 3/4 length, 50`s style dresses.

Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?

He chose a very close and dear friend who we have both known for years and has known us since we first got together. The usher was Dave’s brother.

Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?

Civil ceremony.

Where did you hold your ceremony?

Shrewbury Castle.

Where did you hold your reception?

Albright Hussey Manor, Shrewsbury.

Did you have any special wedding transport?

Yes, a vintage Rolls Royce which was cream and lovely.

How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?

36 to the day as that`s all we could fit in the room and 80 to the evening.

Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?

Yes we had pink and ivory as a colour theme and also butterflies as our cat could not be there which is most loved by the both of us and he absolutely loves chasing them so it was to remind us of him.

How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?

We had potted plants with pink butterfly pots and butterflies wired to the side, butterfly wired to sides of goldfish bowls, butterfly stationery and for favours we gave out butterfly flower seeds. I wore a butterfly bracelet and brooch and put blue butterfly stickers in my shoes for something blue. The bridesmaid wore butterfly wings and had butterflies on their shoes and cardigans. We also put butterflies within the flowers.

Did you give your guests favours?

Yes, butterfly flower seeds.

Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?

We had goldfish bowls with glass beads filled with a little water and pink peonies with floating candles. Button holes were grape hyathiniths and potted plants too. My bouquet was pink peonies.

What did you choose to have on your menu? Did you have an outside caterer or did your venue handle the catering?

We had broccoli and stilton soup, turkey with trimmings and apple crumble.

What did you choose for your wedding cake, and who made it?

My aunty made our wedding cake. Three tiered with flowers to the side and flowers sticking out of the top with grass and three ivory butterflies flying out the top too.

Did you have any entertainment during the day or evening?

We just had a disco in the evening.

Did you have a gift list? If so, who did you have your list with?

Yes at Debenhams.

Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?

We stopped in the hotel we had the reception.

What was your most memorable moment of the day?

The ceremony.

Did you experience any ‘nightmare’ moments in the run up to your wedding or on the day?

No, not really. Had problems with the bridesmaids and trying to please everyone really.

Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?

Yeah, I would of had different bridesmaids. You certainly find out who your friends are planning a wedding. Would have changed my hair dresser as she made such a mess of my hair – not what I wanted at all and probably would have got married at Rowton Castle so we could of stopped the night before and just be in one place for the whole day.
