1st August 2007
We met through a mutual friend in our local club.
Im 23 and John is 34
John proposed to me On the 29th Feb 2004 in London opposite the Tower Bridge. It was a beautiful night and it was snowing! He got down on one knee and produced a beautiful ring!!
Yes! He chose our colour scheme and put a lot of other ideas in which we used.
The girls on Confetti Forums are fantastic and are extremely helpful!
My dress was custom made just for me. I had a particular style in mind which wasn’t available in the shops. It was an Elven/Medieval style ivory gown. It had a boned brocade bodice with a sweetheart neckline. The skirt was silk georgette and had a cathedral train. I had sleeves made to match which were floor length as was my veil.
I had 2 Bridesmaids, both my sisters. They wore gorgeous Sage Green chiffon dresses with a ruched bodice from Forever Yours. Absolutely stunning!
John chose his younger brother to be his best man – despite reservations! Christopher is the most organised guy in the world! The ushers were his 2 closest friends Lee and Dave. John wore an Ivory Edward style Jacket, with and ivory and gold waistcoat with antique gold cravat and hankie – the groomsmen wore the same but with black jackets.
Our ceremony was held in our beautiful 700 hundred year old church. St Chad’s
We had our reception at Peckforton Castle, Cheshire. Its a Grade 1 listed building and architecturally recognised as the UK’s truest representation of a medieval castle.
we hired a soft top Beauford Tourer
We had approximately 70 guests for the event
Our theme was Elven aka Lord of the Rings! This went down well and looked amazing for the wedding!! Our colour scheme was Green and Gold
The theme was incorporated throughout the wedding. My dress, jewellery, and circlet were all part of the theme, as was the sword, well elven knife, and the guest book – even the pen was a Lord of the Rings collectable! For the tables, i used a design throughout the day which was also used on my order of service’s, this was used on my seating plan and menus etc.
Yes. They had silver bottle-stoppers, key rings and bottle-openers. They were very popular and they were all taken home!
My bouquet was ivory and green in colour. I had Calla Lillies and Roses with some foliage. Our Table decorations were tall standing vases with Calla Lillies and Green up-lighters.
Peckforton Castle dealt with the catering. We had Salmon, followed by a traditional roast with chocolate marquise for dessert. It was delicious,
we had a simple 3 tier stacked cake for the day. It had sugar calla lilies and green ribbon as decoration. It was made by the father of the groom and his sister.
Yes. During the meal we had a harpist playing which created a wonderful atmosphere! The evening we had a DJ
Our first night was spent in the bridal suite at the castle. We honeymooned in Fiscardo, Greece and booked with Sovereign.
Looking into my husbands eyes as i promised “to love and to cherish” him forever.
Yes! My “best friend” let me down completely and didn’t bother turning up on the day and we also had a large family fall out!
I would do it all the same again!! As for tips? well there are so many to list! The most important of which I’ll say. Take some time out for you and your hubby. Step back, take it all in and cherish the day!
