We met in a nightclub in 2001.
Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?
He got doen on one knee in my dad’s house on St Patrick’s Day.
Did you have hen and stag celebrations?
21 girls went to Nottingham. We spent the day shopping, went to the Hard Rock Cafe and then went clubbing. Darren went with nine other guys to the horse races.
Did your groom help you with the wedding planning?
He helped with everything (except my dress of course!)
Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it.
My dress was a gold Mon Cheri design with a cathedral length train.
Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?
I had four – my two sisters and two best friends. They wore baby blue strapless dresses.
Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?
Darren’s best man was his best friend Andy. They had frock coats, pin striped trousers, and cravats to match the bridesmaid dresses.
Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?
We had a religious ceremony.
Where did you hold your ceremony?
St Joseph’s Church in Luton, Bedfordshire.
Where did you hold your reception?
The reception was in St Joseph’s Social Club, next to the church.
Did you have any special wedding transport?
We had a Mercedes to take us to the wedding.
How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?
We had 154 guests, and 60 more to the evening.
Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?
Our colour scheme was blue.
How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?
We had blue favours, blue napkins and blue tablecloths.
Did you give your guests favours?
Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?
I had a shower bouquet with ivory roses.
What did you choose to have on your menu? Did you have an outside caterer or did your venue handle the catering?
We started with soup, and then had turkey, ham, roast potatoes and vegetables for the main course. For pudding, we had apple pie.
What did you choose for your wedding cake?
Our cake was a four tier novelty cake make in the shape of love hearts with blue sugar flowers to decorate.
Did you have any entertainment during the day or evening?
Yes – we had a disco in the evening.
Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?
We spent it in the Glen Eagles Hotel in Harpenden – it was amazing, really romantic.
What was your most memorable moment of the day?
Walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Darren’s face.
Did you experience any ‘nightmare’ moments in the run up to your wedding or on the day?
Yes – the dressmaker took too much off two of the bridesmaid dresses a week before the wedding. Thankfully, they were able to fix it.
Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?
Just enjoy the day – it goes so quickly. Our day was amazing.
