Wedding speech material you can use when you want to say something a little bit different

‘When I look at Sarah, I remember these words from a song by Suzanne Vega: “I want to live as an honest man, to get what I deserve and to give all I can, and to love a young woman I don’t understand…”‘

‘The mysterious beauty of my new wife recalls for me these wonderfully poetic lines by the poet ee Cummings: “Only something in me understands/The voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses/Nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands”‘

‘Paul, since I have started loving you, I’ve seen the whole world in a new light. As the poet Krishnamurti wrote: “Love is the answer, it changes everything. The moment you have in your heart this extraordinary thing called love and feel the depth, the delight, the ecstasy of it, you will discover that for you the world is transformed.”‘

‘Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it’s cracked up to be. That’s why people are so cynical about it. It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don’t risk everything, you risk even more.’ (Erica Jong)

‘In the words of the French poet Jadice Holsen: “Je ne garde que le t de je t’aime”. Which might be translated as: “I wish to keep only the ‘you’ of ‘I love you.’”
