Hand Fasting Wedding

I’d like to arrange an outdoor hand fasting ceremony. As hand fasting is a traditional Pagan ceremony, I don’t think it would be recognised as a legal ceremony so I think we would have to get married in a register office as well. Can you help me find someone to do the service?

You are correct in thinking that a Pagan handfasting marriage ceremony is not legally binding so you would need to marry in a civil ceremony, not necessarily in a register office as these days many venues are licensed to perform civil ceremonies. You could then hold your Pagan ceremony directly after. For more information go to: This gives some general information on hand fasting ceremonies and our featured Pagan Celebrant: will be able to advise on how to go about holding your own handfasting ceremony.
