Choosing The Right Foundation Colour
Ensuring you have the perfect matching foundation shade for your wedding day is one of the most important aspects of your bridal make‐up look. It’s worth the effort in finding the right shade considering your wedding photos last a life time.
Foundation colour can’t be purchased on impulse like other make‐up products. It takes time to find the right shade. Here are some tips to achieve an accurate match to your skin.
- Visit your local department store and ask the sales people for samples. This way you can test the colours accurately at home
- Avoid busy shopping times, this way you will get more time to pick and choose shades you would like to take home to test
- Avoid pink toned foundations for lighter skins and orange toned foundations for darker skins. Aim for more yellow toned shades that look more true to skin tone colour. On medium to dark black skin foundations that are too light show up as grey and oftern change colour once left on the skin for a few hours
- Professional make‐up brands usually have the most accurate shades to choose from
- Testing the colours in natural day light with no make‐up on your skin
- Wear a top that reveals your neck and chest area so you can compare the shade to the entire area
- Your skin must be moisturised or else the foundation will just ‘sit’ obviously on top of your skin and not blend in at all
- Face day light and observe in a mirror as you blend the shade onto one side of your face
- Once you have found a shade that is blending in double check by testing it on the rest of your face
- Wear the shade for a few hours to observe if it changes colour as the day goes on and how your skin reacts to the formula
- Compare the way the foundation looks to the skin on your neck and chest to ensure there is a flow of colour and not a sudden difference
