Bridal Trends for 2017
Fresh from the catwalk at the White Gallery are the very latest stunning designer bridal collections. Featuring feminine floral patterns, pretty peplum skirts, cute caplets and some highly unusual layering. These gorgeous new bridal trends for 2017 have to be seen to be believed.
Floral Patterns, Pink and Pastels
One of the hottest current trends is the floral pattern, and some of the patterned gowns to grace this year’s catwalk are as gorgeous as they are unusual. Florals fit perfectly with the current trend for Bohemian wedding style. Pink is this year’s colour.
Off-the-Shoulder
Strapless is still out there but off-the-shoulder is more prevalent this year. The straight across neckline is great for brides with a pear-shaped figure that is slightly wider at the hips. The long line across the top of your body will give the illusion of a wider line to balance your shape. Off-the-shoulder gowns are very feminine and very flattering. If you don’t like your upper arms these new styles also have pretty sleeves.
Boat Necks
A boat neck goes right across your collar bone and, like the off-the-shoulder style, is very flattering to any bride with narrower shoulders than hips. It’s also a very sophisticated style that shows an air of confidence with an almost boyish shape rather than an overtly sexy feminine plunging neckline.
Halternecks and Plunging Necklines
The halterneck style is very sassy, and plunging v-cut necklines are almost slashed down to the waist in a strong, overtly sexy look that can be softened with a scalloped edge, chiffon scarf or lace sleeves to shift the focus (from your cleavage!)
Short Styles and Layers
The most interesting new shapes are those with unusual layering and skirt lengths. The bridal gown does not always have to sweep the floor, it can be above the knee, or both – short at the front and long at the back.
Caplets
Caplets are small or sheer capes worn over just the shoulders and they are everywhere this season. Caplets are lovely in satin and so very pretty in chiffon and lace so the bridal gown can be seen underneath. Wear the caplet for your ceremony and take it off for the reception to dance for two very different wedding day looks.
Peplum Skirts and Pocket Details
Skirt styles are getting as interesting as necklines this year with this unusual peplum style of a short skirt over the long line of the gown. Reminiscent of 1980s fashion, one wonders will it be ‘Rah-rah skirts next’? Pockets are also a new trend in bridal fashion, and a useful one for practical brides who want to carry their own tissues or lipstick – just in case!
Sheer Chiffons and Lace
Lace is still very much in vogue with uber feminine lace and chiffon necklines, overlays and sleeves everywhere this season in a variety of styles and designs.
