First thing’s first: always choose your wedding jewellery and accessories after you have your dress, as it is often the dress which will dictate the style of your jewellery. There are literally hundreds of styles to choose from and often the shop you buy your wedding dress from will stock a good range of jewellery and tiaras for you to try on with your dress. Aside from your bridal shop, the high street is a good starting point and many well known clothing stores now have a range of ready-to-wear jewellery that is suitable to wear for your wedding. The prices are often very purse friendly.

Bespoke

There are many online sites that exclusively carry bridal jewellery and most online stores will offer a bespoke design service alongside their ready-to-wear range. Having bespoke pieces made will cost more than ready-to-wear pieces, but you will end up with exactly what you want.

If you do decide to go for bespoke jewellery and accessories, don’t forget to leave plenty of time before your wedding as jewellery designers are very busy. I would suggest that you start looking for your jewellery and accessories at least 6-8 weeks before your wedding day.

Haircombs and Headpieces

You should also take into consideration how you are having your hair styled, and in particular if you’ll be wearing a veil or not. Your hairstyle will often dictate whether you will need a tiara or other hair accessories. Most jewellery makers can make you something that will match your wedding jewellery.

Side-set tiaras are very popular at the moment and suit most brides whether their hair is long or short.

A sparkly hair comb is a nice finishing touch, or, if you want a more subtle look, consider jewelled hairpins dotted throughout your hair.

If your dress has quite a bit of detailing, simple jewellery usually compliments the look better, but with a plainer dress you can really go to town with your jewellery and accessories. Of course this is all down to personal choice!

A statement head piece is often all that is needed to give that wow factor to the final look.

Don’t forget your bridesmaid jewellery either. This can be given to them as a thank-you gift on the morning of your wedding and means that you won’t have to buy their jewellery and a thank-you gift separately.
