Fashion expert Carol Richardson discovers the company behind Dorothy’s legendary shoes and tries a few on for size.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s search for Dorothy kept my family glued to the the box every weekend for three months. After all, what girl doesn’t love a good sing song and a lovely pair of sparkly shoes?
So imagine my excitement when I found that one of our very favourite bridal names, Rainbow Club, is making the shoes for the show!
As a small child I was utterly enchanted by the ‘ruby red slippers’ that Dorothy wore and still have a penchant for red shoes, perhaps for that reason. Now thirty odd years later I sit with my own little girl as she ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ over the sparkling shoes and pretty songs. I tell her brides can wear sparkly shoes on their wedding day and she beams from ear to ear.
This season’s finest
There are beautiful bridal shoes around this season, from the utterly gorgeous and very bespoke crystal shoes, each one studded with thousands of Swarovski crystals, to the perfectly hand-coloured Faye shoes the girls danced in last week, they have all been made by Rainbow especially for the show.
Shoe dyeing
Anyone wanting to co-ordinate coloured shoes with dresses can do just that with Rainbow’s colour dye service. They hand-dye any shade, so if you fancy wearing something a little different on your big day, or want something for your bridesmaids to match the dress, then you heard it on Confetti first!
