Off the peg or made to measure

When it comes to buying a wedding suit, there are several options. You could buy a style you like off the peg in your size and have it altered to fit. This is certainly the cheaper option but there are benefits to having a suit made for you, to your exact requirements in any colour, style or fabric. It will be tailored to fit you perfectly and be an investment that you will have for years to come.

Classic menswear

For a formal wedding, the classic morning suit with tails or evening tailcoat will always look sophisticated. Alternatively you could go for a Prince Edward or a Prince Charlie jacket or Frock coat. If you’re wearing tails, don’t forget your top hat.

Modern menswear

A contemporary groom’s suit or more formal dinner suit is also very smart and, for a wedding abroad a linen lounge suit is just right.

To turn heads go for a retro 1950s/60s suit with colour or a neutral suit to which you can add colour in the tie or waistcoat and button hole, or even your shoes or a flash of socks.

Colours and styles

For a stylish look match the colour of your ties or cravats to the bridesmaids’ gowns or bouquets. A coloured waistcoat is a great way to match your ushers though the groom should stand out with a different coloured waistcoat, for instance in ivory to match the bride’s gown.
