Marrying in Portugal
With its natural beauty and serene atmosphere, it’s hardly surprising that the Algarve is one of the most popular wedding destinations in the world. Portugal is a beautiful country in which to get married, and to visit. Portugal is liberal enough to allow couples to choose their own marital regimes. Same- sex marriage are perfectly legal there, and they welcome couples with open arms.
At Conrad Algarve, they offer three different types of Algarve wedding.
1. Symbolic Ceremony: A symbolic ceremony holds no legal validity. The advantages of this ceremony are that it can be personalized to suit each couple. As this ceremony is very tailor made to suit the couple, Conrad Algarve’s wedding planner will happily help to create a bespoke event to suit your individual needs and requests.
2. Civil Wedding: A civil wedding can be held in any Algarve location that you wish. The format of the ceremony is a legal reading of a contract stating your names, date of birth, and address; you will also need your passport number. By law the ceremony must be read in Portuguese, and then translated into English.
3. Church Wedding: Portugal is famous for being a Catholic Country, with a beautiful Catholic church in every town. You do not need to be a Catholic to get married. Church Weddings are equally as inviting as those of The Church of England.
An administration fee will be charged.
