Winter Wedding Guest Style

19th November 2013 |By | Be the first to comment

For the stylish winter wedding guest this season, the look is swathes of satin and elegant lace overlays, the colour is most definitely pink. Choose between flirty knee-length numbers that look amazing with heels or long boots or statuesque floor-length maxi dresses. Add a tailored dress coat, fascinator/hat and some statement jewellery and dance the night away in style. Here are some of my favourites for this season’s weddings ideal for guests, bridesmaids and mothers of the bride or groom.

Pretty in pink

According to fashion gurus, pink is the colour to be seen in this season. A subtle and subdued blush pink is ideal for a wedding, though a vibrant hot pink will turn heads. Team a soft, understated pale pink with a richer blush pink or deep magenta shawl, jacket, cardigan or coat. Add depth to your colour with contrasting navy, grey or black for a safe colour combination or burnt orange or red if you are more daring.

If pink is not your colour, this gorgeous plum strapless dress (below) is a lovely shade for a late autumn or winter wedding. It has a casual 1950s feel to it and would look stunning with a fake fur stole and hat in a wintry white for an eye-catching look. The cobalt blue dress with floral detail would look great with high heeled shoes or ankle boots and a mid-length coat to show off your legs. Just add a fascinator and you’re ready to go.

Satin sheen

Satin is a gorgeous fabric for a winter wedding guest to wear as you will sparkle without a single sequin or diamond in sight. Satin and silk are sensual and tactile, and sexy without being overtly so. This rich blue satin maxi-dress is ideal for a curvy girl who wants to accentuate her feminine features without the low neckline. The shape is highly flattering with its crossover waist, A-neckline and A-line skirt that skims over rounded hips and falls to the floor in an elegant style. Team with rich velvet or fake fur in a contrasting or neutral colour.

Lace overlays

Lace overlays are still everywhere and the height of fashion thanks to Kate Middleton and her bridal gown. A black lace overlay with a pale pink, cream or ivory lining is a great compromise for anyone who would like to wear black or white but feels they shouldn’t. This eye-catching lace dress is ideal for a petite or boyish figure and looks feminine with the waist sash, flirty short skirt to show off shapely or slim legs and would look ideal with a plain but colourful cardigan or shrug.
