If you’re looking for a UK mini moon to help you relax after all the excitement of your wedding, we’d like to point you in the direction of The Cornwall Hotel in St. Austell.

There’s nothing quite as blissful as a break by the sea, and this luxury bolthole is the perfect spot for newlyweds to recoup following the big day, before jetting off on honeymoon.

The Cornwall Hotel holds host to a variety of different accommodation, from self-catering woodland lodges and a cottage complete with hot tub, to luxury hotel rooms and suites, which is what we stayed in.

Our suite boasted a huge four-poster bed and a standalone roll top bathtub, which was perfect for soaking in after a sandy day at the beach.

While our room was undeniably gorgeous, and we easily could have lounged about it in our robes for the whole stay, there was a lot to explore on the grounds, from a woodland swing, to a forest walk and even a bat house – for the gothic among you!

A highlight of our stay was our visit to The Clearing Spa; post swim, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, we were treated to a couples facial, emerging with clear, glowing skin – ideal for erasing any signs of late nights spent on wedmin (and maybe one too many glasses of champagne on the big day itself.)

The spa’s infinity pool overlooks Cornwall’s rolling hills and has both indoor and outdoor loungers for you to while away the hours on. We were blessed with good weather so were able to sit outside and bask in the sunshine, but it was equally cosy indoors with floor to ceiling windows that flooded the pool with natural light.

As evening came around, we dined in the hotel’s restaurant, which is the perfect combination of relaxed atmosphere and fabulous food. We opted for perfectly cooked steak, succulent hake and the most delectable salted caramel mousse for dessert – and that wasn’t the only sweet treat we indulged in during our stay.

Within the hotel grounds are the elegant Laura Ashley Tea Rooms, decorated in a quintessentially beautiful English way, which perfectly complements the nibbles on offer.

Whether you’re after classic brunch dishes like avocado on sour dough toast or eggs benedict, or fancy a traditional afternoon tea, it’s all available -and we highly recommend the scones, which were served to us fresh and hot from the oven.

There’s a fabulous list of loose leaf teas to choose from – we opted for rose tea, complete with pretty petals.

There’s even an children’s afternoon tea tailored to little ones, if you’ve opted to go on a UK family moon. In fact, the whole estate is perfect if you’ve got children in tow -the spa is a far cry from some of the ones we’ve been to where everyone speaks in hushed tones and it’s frowned upon for so much as daring to chat while in the jacuzzi – The Cornwall has a delightfully laid back vibe, where everyone feels welcome.

With your mini moon spa sorted, check out our review of the perfect spa for a laid back hen party.
