Good ideas for gifts to help me ask my friends to be my bridesmaids?
Hi, I've just got engaged but have known who I want for my bridesmaids for a long time. I want to get them a really special gift to ask them to be bridesmaids but not sure what to get. I don't want to get little mirrors as my best friend gave me one when asking me to be her MOH. Do you have any good ideas for gifts to help me ask them to be my bridesmaids? Thanks!

How do I pick a wedding venue?
We have looked at 10 venues now and are still no closer to finding 'the one' and it is really upsetting me. I know my partner is getting annoyed now as the ones we are looking at are within our budget but it is always me with the problem whether it is too small, too big, the decor is wrong etc. I just don't know. I have done so many searches and just feel like I am deflated, worn out and that it just won't happen. What am I doing wrong? Am I restricting myself by saying we won't travel more than an hour? Am I going in all wrong with my guest list numbers and then picturing it being too small? How did you pick your venue? How did you decide on your venue or was that not the most important thing to you? I feel like it is…

What gift can I get for my best friend who can’t come to the wedding?
Hi, I have two best friends who I am close to in very different ways so making the a Maid of Honour decision would have been impossible. Unfortunately/luckily one of them is pregnant and can't make the wedding, which is abroad, so I gave the MOH title to the other who was going. Can anybody suggest a personal gift for the one being left behind? With some kind of poem to cement how much she means to me too? Please help Save Save Save Save

How do I make wedding dress shopping extra special?
Hi, I'm going wedding dress shopping and was wondering what is the right thing to do? Do you take your own drinks and glasses? Or is that just something that happens in films? Was just wanting to make it a special day. What did other members do on the day they went dress shopping to make it extra special? Going for food after etc? Sorry for all the questions 🙂 Really excited 😊 Thank you! Save

Setting the date – am I being unreasonable?
My elder daughter is starting to plan her wedding. When looking at potential dates I have asked her to consider the fact that her younger sister is at university and so some distance away. She is looking at October next year and when I pointed out her sister would be at university then, she basically said 'tough'. For a Saturday wedding this would mean someone going on a 350 mile round trip on the Friday evening and again on Sunday. I don't think she understands just how tiring this would be in addition to a full day wedding. Am I being unreasonable?

How many people do you invite to your wedding? Only your family and closest friends?
How many people do you invite? Only your family and closest friends? I have been on a Turkish marriage in Germany and there were like 500 people. Okay, they have huge families, but they also invited colleagues from work etc. ...How did you handle this? I guess it is also a financial question.

How would you react? I feel like I have to do everything on my own.
Hey lovely people! Now it seems like the time is running so fast, maybe a bit too fast. I will marry in December and there are some problems. There are so many questions which I have to handle. I feel like I have to do everything on my own, because everyone has other ideas or doesn't like my ideas. The things I try to do are what I wish to have for my wedding. At least it is MY day and the day of my future husband, not of our parents or someone else. Little questions of how much money someone should invest in decoration, even inthe rings. There are a lot of things to decide. But I am a little bit scared, that there will be problems if anyone except me has other plans or imaginations of how the things should be ... I don't know if you can follow me ... I am also sorry for my English, because it's not my first language :) I hope anyone of you may…

Any recommendations for finding cheaper wedding makeup options or alternative ideas?
Hi guys, I'm after some advice. I'm looking at having someone do my makeup on the wedding day. I'm not someone who normally wears makeup but want to do something different for the day. I've looked online and it appears to be anywhere from £150 to £300. Anyone have any recommendations for finding cheaper options or alternative ideas?

Do I have to make one of my bridesmaids my maid of honour?
Hello, I am getting married at the end of next year and I'm going to ask three of my best friends to be my bridesmaids. My question is, do I have to make just one of them my maid of honour? They are all so close to me and I feel like each of them will contribute differently towards my wedding journey so why should I make just one of them the maid of honour? Has anyone else not had a maid of honour or felt this way? Do I need to explain myself to the girls when I ask them?

What amount would people expect others to pay for a hen do?
I have been looking at ideas for my hen do. I know it's not traditional for the bride to do this but I don't drink and I don't want to just go for a meal, but I just wondered what amount would people expect others to pay for a hen do? I love the idea of a murder mystery weekend and one of the places I saw was roughly £300 which is 2 nights with all meals included afternoon tea and the full weekend of murder mystery, but I feel that's too much to ask people to pay!? Just wanted some ideas thank you.

My Mother in Law won’t respect any of my wishes
My Mother in Law won't respect any of my wishes. I've made a simple request that anyone who's being walked in (which includes her) to wear a long dress, no strapless and hair up. Because my hair is going to be down, and my dress is strapless. She went out and bought an 80's style party dress, she's wearing her hair down (almost the same style as mine) and cut her dress to just below the knee. This is gonna look horrible in pictures. She literally won't respect any of my wishes and even told me to not do my centrepieces the way I want them.... I'm honestly so sick of it and don't know what to do??

I’m having a bit of a dilemma about getting favours for our male guests
I'm having a bit of a dilemma about getting favours for our male guests. I have already ordered enough favours for all the Ladies. I thought it was the tradition for just the ladies to get them. But now I am having doubts after hearing other people got all their guests favours. I also have a 14yo girl that can't have the favour as it's alcohol themed and she is the only "child" attending the wedding so I'm unsure what to get her. Help!!

What do your husbands/H2Bs do for wedding rings?
So my question is what do your husbands/H2Bs do for wedding rings? Do they have them and wear them? Have them and don't wear them? Or simply not have one? Might seem an odd question but my H2B doesn't want a wedding ring because it's unsafe in his job to wear one. Which I totally understand - but I would still like him to have one but just take it off whilst he's at work. I get quite upset at the thought of him not having one, I feel like it's really important to me to wear a ring and I don't understand why it's not important to him. Also, what happens during the ceremony where you're meant to exchange rings if only I were to have one? Does it mean I don't get to say the same words (with this ring..with my body..etc) to him as he would…

What do you do when your fiances parents haven’t offered any help?
What do you do when your fiances parents haven't offered any help on anything and then last minute they say they will help with anything. Part of me doesn't want the help 70 days before my wedding because I have gotten this far without their help/input, but then again it's less strain on us financially. How do you react when they have nothing nice to say about anything either?! HELP!!

Does anyone feel overwhelmed by the financial side of the wedding?
Does anyone feel completely consumed and overwhelmed by the financial side of the wedding? I know weddings can cost as little or as much as you'd like them too, but each month that passes something new seems to crop up that eats away at our savings whether it be car trouble, a birthday, Christmas etc and I just feel like we'll never manage it. I try and account for everything when budgeting but with each passing month I feel more and more down about it. I guess what I'm asking is does anyone else feel the same? And if so how do you cope. I've tried talking to my partner but he's very laid back, also tried talking to family/friends and I'm just told "well that's life, it'll all be fine". I know everyone has their own financial burden but every time I think about money or trying to…

What’s the best way of saying we want money rather than presents?
We're getting married in April, both in our 50s and been married before. We are having quite a big do with 100+ evening guests. What's the best way of saying we want money rather than presents? I don't mean to sound ungrateful but we have all the household items we need, what we really want is help towards paying for the wedding when the final bills are delivered. Thanks.

Venue asking for £2,500 to allow us to move wedding date
Hi, I've just found out I'm pregnant - very early stages but due the day before we get married! Obviously I know that doesn't mean baby will be born on that exact day but I would be more happy moving the wedding until after baby is born / the year after. I don't want to rush into anything as want to ensure that everything is okay at my 12 week scan - which will not be for another 6-8 weeks but I wanted to find out from the venue what they could do. So, they have said they can move the date but we have got to pay £2,500 (our deposit again) as they are losing money out on the previous date we had. I have explained that they aren't losing out we are just moving our date and I'm happy to pay a good will gesture but £2,500…

Non formal bridal and groom party
We're getting married next June and we're not planning on having any bridesmaids or groomsmen, just one little flower girl. Our wedding guest list is fairly small with our friends reaching around 20 people and it's a very relaxed event. However I'd somehow like to show/tell them how much they all mean to us and also to ask our childhood friends if they'd kindly say a few words for us at the reception. Has anyone had 'unofficial' bridesmaids/groomsmen and how did you word this in the invites? Some inspiration is hugely appreciated, thank you :)

What are people’s opinions on not having a wedding car?
We are getting married in the same place we are having our reception. I'm getting ready at home which is about 15 mins down the road. What are people's opinions on not having a wedding car? We have been quoted about £400 for a Beauford which I've always had my heart set on but I'm not sure if it's a waste of money for 15 mins when no one will see me arrive. My partner thinks I will regret it if I don't have it. Has anyone else regretted not having a fancy wedding car?

My partner is worried that skirts will look less formal than dresses…
I have my dress and am wearing a 50s tea-length lace dress. I love the idea of being a little different with the bridesmaids and having them in mid-length tulle skirts and nice (possibly Bardot style) satin tops. My partner is worried that skirts will look less formal than dresses so I was just wondering if anyone's maids wore tulle skirts and had photos that I could show him? The advantage of skirts for us is that I have a range of sizes (8-20) and tulle skirts look great on all sizes and so will allow them all to wear the same whereas I will struggle to find the same dress to suit all shapes and sizes!! TIA! xx"

We had to cancel at the beginning of the year due to family problems
Hi there so I'm a little bit stressed my partner and I have been engaged for over 3 years and where supposed to get married in June but we had to cancel at the beginning of the year due to family problems. We both don't come from the best of families and don't have much of a support network at all, I've struggled with really bad depression due to all of this and we also have 2 young girls at home. It seems nothing we do is ever good enough no matter what we do and we are always having to put our plans on hold for everyone else. Of course I've always dreamed of a bigger wedding with all the family from both sides there but more recently I'm beginning to think this will never happen and to be honest I'm not so sure it's what I want…
