So, we are having a very small wedding just is my parents and our 2 children (11 & 4) simple ceremony at registry office then a meal TBA and maybe a few drinks at a local pub for people to come along to before early night to leave for nyc early next day. I am undecided on what to wear, I have tried a 'proper' dress or but it cost nearly as much as our 4 days in nyc so could justify it, I have tried a plainer dress on and wasn't fussed so now I'm stuck I'm even considering jeans! Has anyone else had a very small simple affirmative if so what did u wear please share photos if u can!
Vanda Kaminski - Have a look at Wed2B. They do fab dresses all under 600. Mine cost 400 and I love it. There were some for 99 too tho that were beautiful, just not what I wanted for my day.x
Charlotte Batten - Have you tried the high street? Any dress that's white/cream and you can add a veil or headpiece and flowers. There's no rule to say you have to wear a 'wedding dress'
Niamh Cannon - Plenty of sample sales and rails about. You can still get a designer dress at low cost. I had a bridal shop and I sold my samples on eBay for a pittance and always had happy customers! No reason why you can't still look like a bride on your wedding day but it's what you feel best in at the end of the day x
Katie Pettigrew - We got married with just us 2 and 2 witnesses. I wore a just below the knee creamy coloured lace fitted dress with capped sleeves and low heeled sparkly shoes. A little bit special but not ott for a registry office. It cost £99 form cav house xx just go to a normal shop and buy something a little bit special from your normal everyday wear. You still want to feel great on your wedding day xx
Alex Thompson - I saw a wedding at a registry office where the bride wore a gorgeous dress from asos, not a wedding dress but it was slightly formal and just above knee length style dress and she looked gorgeous, it went with the venue perfectly! Have a look on asos website.
Rachael Simon Morris - I told my fiance if we had to settle for a registry office wedding I would wear jeans and white tshirt with bride printed on the back and I'd get him a black shirt with groom printed on the back.
Connie Scott - I support a young man who works in a charity shop. We have some amazing dresses for £100 and under. Some with veils. Loads of different shades of white/cream. These dresses cost upwards of £1000. Maybe have a look around in local areas charity shops. Ours is in a well to do area, maybe if you have a local chic village or town have a look in those charity shops. They tend to have the better donations so sell the better items.
Sarah Phillips - I had a small registry office office wedding, just us and our 2 little boys, my mum and dad, And his mum, step dad and grandad, followed by a drink at my mum's and a meal that afternoon. I wore a purple and ivory evening dress with added lace body underneath, and some flat diamonte pumps. As soon as I was married and heading for drinks I took dress off and stuck a plain vest on over the lace long sleeved body, with jeans and left the diamonte pumps on, it's felt more than 'just jeans' but only cost around £50 all in.
Rachel Warley - You should wear what you want as it's your day. However, being a bride is the one day you can really go for it so just think if you will look back on your day and the photos and regret not wearing a wedding dress? There are cheaper dresses in high street stores, Debenhams, Next etc.
Stephanie Meikle - I wore a purple dress I bought online! Spent ages fretting about a white dress, but at the end of the day I couldn't find one as white is not a colour I ever wear or have ever worn, so I didn't feel like myself in anything I tried. Have a look at lindy bop, pretty kitty, jolie moi online stores, beautfiul dresses around the £50 mark!
Becca Smith - Look at Lindy Bop they do a wide variety of vintage style dresses for really reasonable prices (and a massive sale at the minute) they do things that look 'weddingy' or you could choose something you just like the look of and are comfy in! X
Manda Bloxham - I am getting married in August and having a very small wedding. Just his kids, my kids and my Mum. I am wearing a 'Lindy Bop' dress which cost £40 00. I can't seem to post a photo, sorry!
Leanne Shaw - I had to get married in the morning which was wjere we sogned papers so i had a cheap dress from miss guided then my real dress for beach cernony then at night i changed into another cheap dress which was just a short lace dress xx
Amy Pollard - I'm having 10 guests at my wedding and leaving for NYC the next day in the morning! we are now having an evening too but regardless I'm wearing my dream dress! Luckily I attended one of those sale days the bridal shops have for sample dresses and got mine for £400 instead of £1200. I think you will regret it if you don't wear a bridal dress xx
Katie Darienzo - We got married when I was 6 months pregnant it was a simple affair with a party at our house after I got my dress from eBay for £30 I made sure that the measurements were correct and also that it wasn't from china. They have prom dresses and wedding dresses at reasonable prices!!
Lisa Chamberlain - Lots of the high street shops now have their own wedding range as well as online - to name a few asos, coast, lipsy & little mistress maybe have a look and see if they have anything to your fancy & price range ??
Claire Dean - Hi, I'd advise you to think outside the norm, H&M have a white maxi dress if you want something low cost & simple? http://m2.hm.com/m/en_gb/productpage.0483652001.html#Natural white As others have said a lot of high street stores now have bridal ranges & there are some great sales on at the moment. Alternatively you could follow an old tradition and wear your best dress-white wedding dresses were made popular by royal weddings & as beautiful as some gowns are, they don't suit everyone's taste & personality. Is there a store you like that sells outfits that make you feel happy, could you invest in something from their store & wear something that makes you feel fantastic? I hope you find your dream outfit & don't be afraid to be different. ?
