Hi, i have been toying with what to do with my surname once i am married. I quite like the idea of making my maiden name my middle name. Does anyone know how you go about this? Do you need to tell anyone (registrars etc) before the wedding. Am very confused and no idea where to start. Thanks.
Asty Marie Ryan - Try ringing your local registrar office. They should be able to advice you on what you have to do legally
I imagine you do it by deed poll after the wedding but they should be able to help. Me and my fiancé want to double barrel which means he has to deed poll his
Rackelle Rouni Green - I'm double barreling my partner's last name to my last name, this is because my son from a previous relationship has my last name and I don't want to have a different surname to him so I will just have both surnames as my last name
Deborah Charnock - I'm in the process of doing this at the minute. I have decided use my maiden name as a middle name. I used the deed poll form from the government website. I was wary using the deed poll websites as my bank will only accept the deed poll from government website. With this deed poll you have to get 2 witnesses and someone who has known you over 10 years and not a close relative to fill in part of the and come to a solicitor with you to swear on oath you are who you say you are, the solicitor will then sign the forms this only cost me £5 and £2 for a copy at the solicitor. You also need to have a letter off your husband if your already married (I waited until I was married to do this) just saying they allow you to change your name lol. I'm sending off my forms off this week as they are now all complete ? hope this helps and if you have any questions just let me know xx
Louise Lyall - I'm doing this as well! I thought I could just do it all with the change of surname at the wedding? ??
Jessica Rose Barr - I don't know as I haven't get married yet myself but I'd assume you'd have to change it by more than just your marriage certificate as your not just changing your last name. On google there's loads of deed poll websites so I'd be a bit wary of what's legitimate.
I'd say used the gov one:
Samantha Kelly - I want to do the same so interested to see what others say....
