I am getting married at the end of May this year, and am really struggling for ideas for the table centres for the wedding reception. I liked the idea of lavender plants, rather than flowers as I think 10 cut flower arrangements will go to waste after the wedding. The florist doesn't think the lavender will be in flower at the end of May, so now I am stuck. I also like the idea of being able to use the centrepieces again, or given as gifts. The colour theme is purple, hence the lavender and we also have butterflies on the stationery, but there isn't a big overall theme. Any advice would be very welcome.
Lavender plants are a wonderful idea for your table centres, so why not consider having artificial lavender plants if the real thing is not in season? They range in colour from light to richer purple and you could give them away at the end of the night or resell them after the wedding recoup some costs.
Other ideas for purple centrepieces include the striking Purple Topiary Tree which are very popular, particularly for contemporary city style weddings; they have a sort of a 'New York cool' about them.
You might also like to consider these Purple Floating Candles which can be placed in glass bowls or tubes and lit with mirrors below to great effect.
For a stunning centrepiece, I love the curent trend for cupcake stands in the centre of each table, onto which you could pile purple butterfly cased (or purple iced) cup cakes for all your guests! These gorgeous, delicate lilac butterfly cupcake cases could be just the thing!
Hope that gives you some inspiration!
