Hi there, I’m Cathy Shaw. I’m an independent celebrant based in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. Working from the heart – with love, compassion, humour and humility – I always strive to build a ceremony that will be forever in your hearts and minds. There have been lots of significant moments in my life that have led me to becoming a celebrant. For the last 8 years I have been working as a massage therapist. I have a very loyal client base who I believe come to me, not only for my physical skills as a massage practitioner but also for the empathy, kindness, understanding and support that I show them, within their emotional, mental and spiritual selves as well. I worked as a producer in the film industry for 15 years. This taught me to put clients’ needs first, to work to deadlines, to feel comfortable and confident speaking in front of hundreds of people, to stay calm, resilient and resourceful when the unexpected happens and that the show must go on. I produced conferences and events often based around one film or individual, bringing out what was meaningful whilst creating an atmosphere of appreciation and admiration for them. Being a full-time mum for 7 years meant, again, putting other’s needs before my own. Obviously looking after children is one of the most rewarding, demanding, humbling thing a person can do, and it’s an honour not everyone gets.
