About Glen Dye Cabin and Cottages
Glen Dye is a private estate of around 15,000 acres and our design-led cabins and cottages sit slap bang at its centre, surrounded by wilderness, forest and moorland on the banks of the River Dye.
Glen Dye Estate has been in our family since the 1840s. It has long been famed for its beauty, with its glorious peaty river and world-renowned woodland. But by the late 1980s it had sunk into a state of near terminal disrepair; its houses and farms dilapidated, fences and footpaths collapsed, farmland badly maintained, sawmill abandoned. We loved it deeply though. And so in 1990 we left our jobs in London and moved to Glen Dye to see if we could bring this magical place back to life... Our eventual aim was to establish it as one of Scotland’s finest and best-maintained private estates. And, somehow, we’re nearly there. It hasn’t been easy, in fact sometimes it’s felt awful, impossible, exhausting. But you know that thing about nothing worthwhile being easy? It’s been a real slog, but today we are enormously proud of Glen Dye. And we’re delighted to have created a place that’s widely regarded as one of the best holiday destinations in Britain. We very much hope that you’ll come and share this remarkable place with us. Getting it to where it is has been a labour of love and we’re very proud of it indeed. We’d love to welcome you.
