A unique venue over two floors of a converted Victorian school house, The Kirkgate Centre is now a multi-use Arts and Heritage Centre with live music, cinema, kitchen facilities and bar.
After being saved from demolition by the Cockermouth Civic Trust the former All Saints School was passed on to determined group of volunteers, Kirkgate Arts. They set to work in the early 1990's restoring and repurposing the building to provide the town with a much needed centre for performance arts, heritage and community use. The centre is now staffed by a small team of paid employees alongside a 100 strong team of volunteers.

Meet the Staff Member
Katie is our operations manager at Kirkgate Arts. She will work with you to ensure that your special day goes smoothly. With over 15 years experience in events organisation, she is well placed to guide you through making your plans a reality. Katie will introduce you to our volunteer wedding coordinator, bar manager and other members of the team to make sure that every detail is taken care of. She is also happy to liaise with your caterers, decorators and entertainment providers in advance to make sure that all you need to worry about on the day is having a wonderful time!

Lists are key! Keep all your notes together in a book ideally. Whether it's your wish list or your guest list, it makes life so much simpler to have it all in one place.
It's YOUR day! Don't worry about making sure each guest has a perfect time, because they are all there for you. Make sure you have the day that YOU want.
Keep things simple. It might be lovely to have a flock of doves released while an orchestra plays.... but it could also be mayhem! Think about the key aspects of the day first- food, drink, fun.
