Lindeth Howe Hotel is a stunning property on the outskirts of Bowness On Windermere, built in 1879, Lindeth Howe was built for a businessman from Manchester, her used to rent it out to families during the holidays when he was not staying here, one of those families was the Potter family, Rupert Potter, his wife, Helen, their son Bertum and daughter Beatrix. In later life once she had started selling her famous children’s stories, and after the death of her father Beatrix has moved to Hilltop over the Lake In Low Sayray, she heard that Lindeth Howe was up for sale, she bought it, and her mum lived here until she died, when her mum died, Beatrix sold on the house and that is how it ended up not going to the National Trust along with the rest of her property and land. While on a couple of her visits, Beatrix illustrated two of her stories here, The Tale of Timmy Tiptoes and Pigling Bland, we have letters on display in the hotel that Beatrix sent from here to her publisher and the her handwriting that inscribed ‘Lindeth Howe’ with on the letters is our logo.

Our hotel is set in 6 acres of stunning gardens making for the perfect setting for your wedding photos and we have a wedding licence that covers not only the rooms inside for marriages, but you can also get married in our gardens in the gazebo.

We have several set packages at the hotel, but, also the option to ‘build your own’ day, not all relationships are the same, not all couples are the same, so it makes sense that not all weddings are the same, there are several wedding coordinators at the hotel that I work alongside, and from the first enquiry to the day itself, we are with you every step of the way, come and see us, have a cup of tea and see how you can celebrate your day, your way with Lindeth Howe in the former home of Beatrix Potter.
