We’re delighted that you’re interested in holding your special day here at National Museum Cardiff. The Museum has two galleries licensed for weddings – the Modern and Impressionist Galleries and the Historic Gallery – and our iconic Grand Hall is the perfect location for a reception in the heart of the Welsh capital.
Please note that we do not offer ceremony only. If you are looking for reception-only options, do let us know.
Costs for technical equipment such as microphones, PA systems and lighting to be determined based on requirements.
If you are looking for entertainment, whether a DJ, live musicians or dancers, we’ve got contacts for a variety of entertainment options to suit your evening.

National Museum Cardiff Details
- National Museum Cardiff has two galleries licensed for weddings – the Modern and Impressionist Galleries and the Historic Gallery
- The Historic Gallery, located on level 2, can hold up to 90 guests. The ceremony would take place in front of the 18th-century Williams Wynn Wynnstay organ, a beautiful backdrop for pictures.
- Our Modernist and Impressionist Gallery, which can also host up to 100 guests for a ceremony or 300 for a standing drinks reception, features works by renowned artists such as Monet, Rembrant and Renoir. Get married with The Blue Lady.
- Our iconic Grand Hall is the perfect location for a reception in the heart of the Welsh capital. Featuring stunning marble pillars, grand stairs and dome ceiling. Now featuring our resident Mammoth!
- Our experienced and dedicated venue hire team are here to work with you and ensure the perfect solution for you and your guests.
- As a registered charity, holding your day with us will help us ensure that Amgueddfa Cymru belongs to everyone and is here for everyone to use, including all our exhibition, community and educational work.
