We aim for you to be able to enjoy the venue as your own home for the duration of your stay. We value your privacy and ensure that you have exclusive use from the moment you arrive until you depart after your wedding day.

We try not to say NO, most of our restrictions are put in place due to licensing or planning legislation. We discuss your individual needs at length and if they are outside of our T’s and C’s explain the reasoning behind the restriction and offer alternative solutions.

From the first time we talk we can recommend our local transport, accommodation and eating establishments. We recommend walks and activities so that you really get under the skin of this glorious location.

Polhawn Fort is a unique venue with a bomb-proof roof, 8-foot thick walls and a Grade 2* listing. It also has a unique space used for wedding ceremonies and receptions that was designed for 19th century soldiers, not 21st century parties! Our team have carefully planned all of the best ways to utilise this space, ensuring the comfort of your guests and smooth running of your wedding from beginning to end. We provide table plans for every number of guests from 8 to 120 (our maximum). While you are welcome to use the Fort how ever you wish for the duration of your stay we do offer advice on optimal placement of Bars, Buffets and Entertainment to maximise the space. We encourage the transformation of one of our larger rooms to be used as a second reception space and this makes a wonderful alternative location for families to hang out and chat. Our bedrooms are spacious, and we offer flexible accommodation. We can help you plan sleeping arrangements to suit your family situation. Our accommodation is luxurious with top-quality mattresses, the fluffiest of towels and thick white bed linen. We try to think of everything, from Cornish organic soap and shower gel, to a range of refreshments in each room. We provide laundry facilities and a much-coveted steamer for wedding attire. The kitchen is of commercial quality with choices of tableware, glassware and cutlery provided along with crisp white table linen included in the venue hire. Our furniture is vintage leather and tweed, painted solid wood with some natural wood pieces. We provide props that can be used for decorations including living, green chandeliers and storm lanterns.

Outside we maximise the use of our beautiful roof terrace that stretched the length of the Fort. We have planted a unique Mediterranean garden in this sheltered spot and it lends itself perfectly to a welcome reception area as guests arrive over the drawbridge. The sweeping lawns in front of the Fort overlook the bay. You can enjoy garden party style entertainment or a glamourous ‘picnic’, a range of garden games are provided in the ‘Games Shed’. The new oak summerhouse stands at the top of the lawns and is surrounded by a paved area. Popular for wedding ceremonies in the summer it is can also used as a beach style bar, outdoor ‘snug’ or BBQ area. We are lucky enough to enjoy our own private access beach which you can also build into your plans. Early morning swims, paddle boards and kayaks, a bonfire, it’s completely up to you how you enjoy the spaces but our team will be here to guide you all the way.
