Meet the Owner
Our Walled Gardens date from about 1840, but the family have been here since the 11th century, and the gardens lie between the oldest building (the Castle ca 1070) and the newest (1650). For nearly 50 years the gardens have been opened to the public on various dates, and also host weddings, especially between May and September. The gardens have themed sculptures and layouts based on childrens literature, so you will find references to Narnia, Wonderland, Neverland, and to Robin Hood, King Arthur, Harry Potter. The gardens are often described as Quirky, Unusual, Special, etc., and you can plan your wedding to fit these if you want. We have many "unusual, quirky, and special" photo opportunities of course, which will make your event all the more memorable.
