Just to give you a little background about our company. It all began when Christina’s daughter decided to get married in Summer 2010. Unfortunately, that same year Christina’s mother died, - she lived in Spain and it was totally unexpected, - and Christina needed to stay in Spain for many weeks as her father also became ill.

During the period Christina was looking after her father, she found out she was being made redundant from her current job, as she did not know when she would be returning to the UK.  Christina did manage to return about a month before her daughter got married, and wanted to get involved with the wedding as much as possible.

The wedding was on a tight budget, and so they tried to think of some unusual table centre pieces. Christina and her daughter considered numerous ideas, from making bird cages decorated with flowers, to pot plants in old china. Then they put their heads together - and because the groom is a tree surgeon, and it was a family wedding full of children, - Christina created a Sweet Tree, like no other. The response was amazing!  Everyone thought they were fantastic and so different, so they took a risk to show at a Christmas event at Olympia in November 2010. Christina put every penny she had in to the event, and was lucky enough to receive great feedback, and initial orders from some well-known major retailers.

Formally known as The Chocolate Tree Company, due to the success of the venture, this needed to be changed to a Limited company, so Christina decided to call the company ‘Rivera’, reflecting her mother’s maiden name.

The designs have become extremely popular and are continually being expanded. To maintain the high product standards that have been set and sought to continually improve, applications for both Product Patent and British Design Registration have been submitted, to prevent our unique designs from being copied.
