Originally two buildings (called the Vaults and Lion respectively), the Lion is an 18th century coaching inn that has over the years been combined to become The Lion Hotel. Latterly, it was further extended in the 1990's with the addition of a further 16 rooms.
More recently still, The Lion has been lovingly refurbished, restoring it to its former glory. With a luxurious interior and retaining its charming 18th century architecture, The Lion Hotel is now one of the most popular hotels in Derbyshire
