About The University of Manchester - Based around Oxford Road in Manchester City Centre, The University of Manchester, one of the UK’s most prestigious and well-known institutions, offers an array of historic and iconic venues on the University campus that provide a truly inspiring backdrops to a memorable wedding celebration.
Our Venues
Weddings at The University of Manchester make use of some unrivalled spaces at the University. All of the venues are located around the Old Quadrangle at the heart of the campus, dating back to 1873 and designed by Alfred and Paul Waterhouse – the same architect to design Manchester Town Hall. These beautifully built spaces are steeped in history, original design and artefacts to help create some beautiful spaces to enjoy on your special day.
All our venues are licenced, allowing you to host your entire day with us and concentrate on enjoying all the celebrations.
Our venues include:
- Whitworth Council Chamber – an historic room steeped in institutional history.
- Christie’s Bistro – our old library, full or original books and portraits of previous Vice-Chancellors
- Manchester Museum – a unique backdrop for your celebrations, including having your ceremony under the watchful gaze of Stan, the magnificent T-Rex skeleton.
- Whitworth Hall – our great hall used for graduations and ceremonial events throughout the year.
- Whitworth Art Gallery - A colour and unique glass building with so much potential for your special day.

Meet the Wedding Coordinator
Charlotte is the person responsible for making sure your wedding day is executed perfectly here at The University of Manchester. Her roles includes overseeing vendors, managing the timeline, and overcoming any last-minute challenges that arise during the festivities. She is here to take away stress and even hide problems that pop up so the couple can focus on enjoying their wedding guests and taking in every moment of their wedding day.
