The Grandstand at Cartmel Racecourse is located in picturesque surroundings, within walking distance of the medieval village of Cartmel.
In fact many couples choose to marry in the 12th Century Priory in the centre of the village before walking the short distance to the racecourse. Others hire the beautiful “Black Horses” (stabled one mile up the road) and ride by carriage to the Grandstand. If a church wedding is not for you, the Grandstand is licensed as a venue to stage ceremonies.
The village of Cartmel is one of the most picturesque in the country, although parking can be at a premium – so it is very handy that the racecourse offers unlimited free parking for wedding guests. There is lots of accommodation for overnight visitors in the village and, if necessary cars can be collected the following day.
Rowley’s of Cartmel offer a comprehensive catering service at the Grandstand and can cater for all needs and any size party. The function room on the first floor of the Grandstand seats up to around 120 guests. The PA speaker system is available free of charge and the Best Man has access to an audio-visual system if he wishes!
The Grandstand is fully accessible and the restaurant is air conditioned with stunning panoramic views across the racecourse and surrounding countryside.
A dance floor is available on request and there is a well stocked bar which is licensed till 1am.
Celebrating your most special day at Cartmel racecourse with it’s breath-taking beauty and surroundings is a fantastic and unique experience and will leave you with wonderful, warm memories.
