DIY Sparkling Wedding Bouquets
With this simple but beautiful DIY, add a glamorous twinkle to your wedding bouquets and flowers using jewels, gems, and everything sparkly.
Just add crystal needles and faux diamonds to your flowers and you can transform your wedding from a pretty spring pastel wedding into a stunning rustic glam theme.

What You’ll Need:
- Flowers of your choice (in this tutorial we’ve used pink ranunculus and pink parrot tulips)
- A pair of sheers
- Scissors
- Floral wire and tape
- Ribbon of your choice
- Crystal needles of your choice
The Look:
Step 1: First, use your sheers or other good cutting tools to cut the stems of your flowers to the right length.
Step 2: Gently insert the crystal needles into the centre of each bloom.
Step 3: Assemble all of the flowers together as a bouquet like any other—use floral wire and tape to keep the flower arrangement in place—and wrap it up in a pretty ribbon, strip of lace, etc.
Tips:
Make sure the length of the crystal needles you choose will work with the flowers you want; you don’t want needles sticking everywhere.
Also, creating a wedding bouquet can come with many different challenges (e.g. you may create your bouquet too early and risk your flowers beginning to wilt before your big day). Unless you’re a very arts-and-crafts-savvy person with a good understanding of flowers, we recommend that you work with your florist to create your perfect bouquet instead of doing it all yourself.
Artificial Flowers:
Different flowers will work better than others with crystal needles; depending on the size of your needles, you’ll have trouble inserting them in a flower that’s too small (as the flower could just fall apart). However, there is the option of using artificial flowers. They’re so realistic these days that you can hardly tell the natural from the silk, and they’re a much safer option too if you wish to experiment with your own design ideas. Furthermore, they’re much easier to preserve. (See our articles, How to Dry Out Your Wedding Bouquet and How to Preserve Your Wedding Bouquet at Home, for some of the different ways to preserve your natural-flower bouquets. And read more on artificial flowers here.)
