Getting married in Fiji
A wedding in Fiji offers a unique cultural experience in the peace and tranquillity of these beautiful islands ‐‐ and means you’re already in the perfect spot for a romantic honeymoon…
Why get married in Fiji?
Fiji is an independent island nation in the southern Pacific Ocean with a tropical climate. As Fijian weddings have grown in popularity, many resorts have created special chapels, so there’s now a rich variety of experiences on offer for your big day. Some couples opt for traditional costumes or to be escorted by Fijian warriors, and all can enjoy the tranquility of these romantic islands with swaying palm trees and white sandy beaches.
What kind of wedding ceremony can I have in Fiji?
In Fiji you can marry in a hotel, a church, or even on a specially adorned boat. You can enjoy your own secluded beach ceremony or tie the knot in a lush tropical garden.
Fijians are predominantly Hindu, Christian or Muslim. If you want a Catholic service on the island documentation from your own local priest must be sent to the Fijian priest about 2‐3 months in advance of your wedding. These should include proof of your baptism, permission from your priest and confirmation that you have completed a pre‐marriage programme. All religious ceremonies are legally recognised under Fijian law.
