Natalie & Keith’s Peacock Themed Destination Wedding In Cyprus
We absolutely love Natalie and Keith’s peacock themed wedding, the beautiful couple said ‘I do’ in an intimate ceremony planned and hosted by Vasilias Weddings. The courtyard ceremony is incredibly sweet, creating the harmonious atmosphere our bride and groom had dreamt of. This week’s real wedding is the perfect inspiration for any bride looking for a heart-warming wedding in the sun with her friends and family. Enjoy
Bride and Groom… Natalie & Keith
Wedding date… Friday 23rd May 2014
We met…Working in the RAF
The proposal… Keith asked me to marry him on the beach in Alnmouth, Northumberland on Christmas Day 2012 dressed in a Christmas onsie!
I knew he was ‘the one’… When I went travelling for a month around the Greek Islands with my friends and I missed him so much.
Length of engagement… 17 months.
How did Confetti.co.uk help in your big day? Gave us lots of ideas for DIY decorations, stationary etc.
My dress was… Maggie Sottero Kyra. I went dress shopping with my mum, Keith’s mum, Jane and Emily. I went to 3 shops trying on about 10 dresses in each. I ended up buying one of the first dresses I tried on in the first shop. I really wanted a lace dress however I was weary that lace dresses are quite heavy and I knew it would be hot in Cyprus. The dress I chose was a loose fishtail lace dress that was very light and extremely comfortable.
Our bridesmaids were… Jane and Jade from the RAF, my friend Emily from school and my 11 year old cousin Remy.
Our wedding ceremony was at… Vasilias Nikoklis Inn near Paphos, Cyprus. We had a civil ceremony with 56 guests in the beautiful courtyard outside. I had been feeling really calm all morning getting ready until I started walking down the steps to meet my dad. Blue Jar were playing Canon in D and this made me swell up with emotions, then I got to the bottom where my dad was, he was crying and this set me off. He told me to stand for a moment and calm down, before walking me to meet Keith and lifting the veil from my face.
Our favourite part of the wedding was… Walking down the steps to the ceremony, feeling very emotional and knowing that I was about to marry my love Keith. I was so overwhelmed with emotions; I have never felt like that before.
Our wedding photographer was… Marios at Photo7Studio. His photos are fabulous and we couldn’t be happier with them.
Our wedding reception was… At Vasilias Nikoklis Inn. We were looking at getting married in Cyprus and saw a lot of venues on the internet but they all seemed too public and we were after something totally private, unique and our own. I stumbled upon a blog written by a previous Vasilias bride and the way she described the venue matched exactly what we were after, so we did more research and fell in love with the place.
Our wedding theme was… Blue, green and cream with peacock feathers.
Our wedding was unique and special because… Vasilias is a unique venue itself and was ours for the day, it was so intimate and beautiful and everything we wanted. It was lovely to spend the whole day outside enjoying the lovely Cyprus weather, flowers and birds. There were plenty of shaded areas so people could get out of the sun if they needed to. It was such a relaxed atmosphere and I don’t think there were any dull moments when people felt bored, the day just flowed perfectly. The food was fantastic and Christina and her team couldn’t have been more accommodating to us, the way they decorated the reception area was stunning. The DJ’s, Tony and Gilly were extremely friendly and very professional, they really made the night very enjoyable.
What is your advice for other brides? To get married abroad. We were worried that not many people would be able to come due to money; however we soon realised that if people really want to be there for you they will make it happen. We were so humbled and overwhelmed to have over 50 people at our wedding, we thought we would struggle to get 30. It was an added bonus that we got to spend 2 weeks with all our family and friends, so it felt like our wedding lasted a lot longer than just a day.
