Be a Sex and the City Style Guest
This month’s hot new movie, Sex and the City 2 is full of super style statements, as fashion icons Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte have fun at a gay wedding before jetting off in style to Abu Dhabi. Now you too can get the look.

Apart from the show-stopping 80’s fashion flashbacks, the top fashion statements from the film have to be the long silk scarves which can be adapted for a cool summer bridal look with a difference, and the ‘Arabian Nights’ style – long, sheer and floaty chiffon numbers perfect for a desert setting or beach wedding.
Best Woman Style
At the gloriously OTT gay wedding in the opening scene, Carrie has the honour of being best man (or ‘best woman’ as I think she should have called herself!) She is dressed in a masculine cut smart black trouser suit and crisp white shirt, topped off with an uber-stylish and very unusual, brimless black hat. While the hat didn’t really suit SJP’s face shape, it was a grand statement that perfectly offset the plain, masculine lines of her suit. Anyone being a best woman this year should consider jazzing up a smart trouser suit with feminine heels, earrings and a ‘talk of the town’ hat.
Silk Scarves
Silk scarves are such a versatile accessory as they can be worn in so many ways. I had a touch of vintage style on my wedding day with an ivory silk scarf that I wore around my shoulders in church, tied at the back of my waist and then thrown back over my neck a la Grace Kelly for the reception. As it was as unusual wedding look the scarf drew many compliments. Another way to carry this look through your bridal party is to have your bridesmaids wear matching silk scarves of the colour of their dresses.
Arabian Nights Style
Floating chiffons and silks are ideal for hot summer weddings and with the maxi dress still at the top of the list for fashion must-haves this summer, a long, floaty wedding dress without all the fru-fru is spot-on. Anyone getting married in a hot country will be a lot more comfortable in thin materials like silk or chiffon than in duchess satin with layers of underskirts. Walking through the desert Carrie wore a white strapless outfit with a silvery headscarf tied around her head; a wonderful beach bride look for this season.
