Wedding Report infographic 2015-2016 | Confetti.co.uk

We asked you everything from how soon after getting engaged did you update your relationship status on social media, to what colours you chose, and how much you spent. Here’s what you told us:

Age

More than half of brides (60%) are in their twenties when they marry while 41% are 30-40 years old and only 5% of brides are over 40 when they tie the knot these days.

Most grooms (27%) are also in their twenties when they marry, with almost as many (23%) being in their thirties.

Invitations

In this digital age of new technology we asked whether couples send traditional paper or modern digital invitations and save the dates, or both. Most couples (64%) still send traditional paper invitations with just 10% sending digital versions, via email for instance and 11% said they sent both.

Social Media

Continuing to discover more about how modern couples are using new technology in their wedding planning, we asked: How soon after your engagement did you update your relationship status on Facebook? Nearly a quarter said they updated their status within the hour! A further 38% updated it within 24 hours, and 31% within a week. Just 12% said they didn’t update their relationship status on social media at all.

We also asked: Will you create a hashtag for your wedding? Over a quarter of today’s couples |(27%) said yes while 73% said no.

Wedding Dress

Once again most brides are wearing an ivory strapless A line wedding dress. The majority (41%) of brides are wearing a strapless wedding dress with most (38%) choosing to wear a flattering A-line skirt, followed  by 21% who chose to wear a distinctive fishtail or mermaid line dress. Just 20% of brides opted to wear a classic ballgown while 14% wore a retro 1950s style tea-length dress with underskirts. Only 6% went for a long sheath dress.

And of those, 58% chose to wear an ivory dress while 27% opted to wear white, just 3% went for cream, 2% wore off-white and 2% wore gold. Short and coloured wedding dresses were again nowhere near as popular as the traditional long ivory gown.

Children

We found that over half of couples planning their wedding (64%) do not have children while 20% have children from another relationship and only 15% have children together.

Gender

Almost one in ten (9%) of the couples who answered our survey were in same-sex relationsip with 90% of couples being male and female.

Engagement

Over 80% of couples are engaged for a year or more and 30% are engaged for over 2 years. Only 18% of couples spend fewer than 12 months planning their wedding.

We think it’s pretty interesting reading. Were you surprised by any of the results?
