A Navy Blue and Brilliant White Wedding by Stuart James Photography
It all started with a “who pushed in front of whom” at a bar on a night out with friends… then a proposal while the bride was having her bath… and ended in a blue-and-white ballrom, singing Bohemian Rhapsody at the wedding breakfast! A glorious wedding, expertly and touchingly documented by Stuart James Photography.
The Couple: Elizabeth and Christoper
Wedding Date: 8th April 2012
Venue: Somerford Hall, Brewood, Staffordshire
Photographer: Stuart James Photography
We met… Through friends on a night out. Chris pushed in front of me at the bar, but he says I pushed in front of him!
My first impressions of Chris… I thought he was very genuine and friendly as he bought me a drink and knew exactly what my job was!
His first impressions of me… “Someone who I would like to get to know better…”
The proposal… We were in Chester on our second anniversary when Chris proposed while I was in the bath!
My dress… My dress was a simple A-line dress which fit me perfectly when I tried it on in the shop. Buying off the peg enabled me to have my dress straight away without the huge designer price tag.
Our ceremony… We had a pianist playing throughout the ceremony with a reading from my bridesmaid who came over from America for our wedding. We made promises to each other which was a special touch to the vows.
Our wedding party… I had my four best friends as bridesmaids, they travelled from all over to celebrate our special day with us. I also had my cousin and Chris’s niece as flower girls. My brother gave me away. Chris had his best friends and his brother as the best man and ushers.
Our wedding theme… We chose Chris’s favourite colour blue and had a navy blue and white theme. When we first looked at our wedding venue, the ballroom was powder blue then we just knew that that was where we wanted to get married! I logged onto Confetti for planning ideas and for inspiration. I also ordered the free invitation samples to help choose our wedding invitations.
My favourite part of the wedding day… Like most people say – I loved the entire wedding day! A particular highlight was singing Bohemian Rhapsody at the wedding breakfast! I loved just watching everyone enjoy themselves throughout the day. All the hard work paid off!
Our first dance song… We had a few songs to pick from but in the end we chose Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls.
My advice to other brides-to-be… Enjoy every minute right from the planning through to the day. Little touches are more important than the big ones. And get a fantastic photographer, our photographer, Stuart James, was brilliant and really captured the story of our day. We have some fantastic memories and photos that we will keep forever.
