Bride and Groom… Amy & David
Wedding date… Friday 12th July 2013
We met… Back when we worked together on the same team.
The proposal… David proposed on the weekend of the Queens Jubilee, which was 2nd June 2012. He had picked a spot on the edge of Lake Windermere whilst visiting the Lake District.
We knew it was ‘the one’… When we went on holiday together to Tenerife.
Length of engagement… 13 Months
How did Confetti.co.uk help in your big day? My bridesmaids used Confetti to help them plan my hen party.
My dress was… a Maggie Sottero gown and the veil was by Joyce, I bought them from Bliss Bridal Centre in Bolton. The dress was strapless and had a lace up back, patterned with pearls and diamantes with a Swarovski crystal belt. I went shopping with my sister, mother and mother in law and knew as the dress was being fastened that it was the perfect. My sister and I got emotional when I came out from behind the curtain as we both knew it was the one!
Our groomsmen were… David’s older brother Philip, who flew over from Australia for the occasion and 3 Ushers Paul, Ben and Andrew.
Our bridesmaids were… My younger sister Rachel, who was maid of honour and 4 of my closest friends Michelle, Carrie, Marie and Gemma.
Our wedding ceremony was… Held at the Great Hall at Bolton school. It was a civil ceremony with 85 guests. I walked down the aisle to a string quartet playing Kissing you by Desree from the film Romeo & Juliet.
Our wedding photographer was… Graham from Finesse Photography

Our wedding reception was… Held at the Arts Centre at Bolton School. We chose Bolton School for the character and grandeur of its buildings and we knew the photos would be stunning.
Our wedding theme was… Midnight blue and ivory. We had midnight blue for the bridesmaids and the groomsmen’s cravats and ivory flowers for the girls. We had tall martini glass centrepieces filled with lilies, white roses and Singapore orchids.
Our Wedding Cake was… by Imaginative Cakes
Our first dance was… The wonder of you by Elvis Presley
Our favourite part of the wedding was… Taking a drive in the car with a glass of champagne immediately after the ceremony. It was just the two of us and gave us a chance to take in the day. The weather was also perfect, it was one of the hottest days of the year; the sun shining really made our day.
Our wedding was unique and special because… We had live music all day. A string quartet during the day and a band at night and even though this was more costly it was something we always wanted. We also bought a cask of Ale brewed locally in Bolton for our guests to enjoy.
For our honeymoon… We stayed at the 9 Muses hotel in Skala, Kefalonia. It is a stunning island and a beautiful hotel and we would highly recommend it.
What is your advice for other brides? Start early and get organised. We were really organised and everything flowed so smoothly towards the last few weeks. Don’t keep changing your mind, once you pick something stick with it. Know your budget and plan what you want around it; also have live music as opposed to CD’s or a DJ
