Becky and Ian Real Engagement Story
I was introduced to Ian by a mutual friend at my church’s carols by candlelight service at Christmas 2000. We seemed to get on straight away. I invited him and his children for my Christmas Eve bash but things went a bit quiet after that.
On Valentine’s Day I bought him a card but was too shy to send it. In May I was walking past his door on the way to a beer festival and decided to invite him along. After several pints of scrumpy and real ale we finally told each other how we felt. Turns out it was love at first sight for both us but we were both too nervous to reveal our feelings.
In July we drove up overnight to Ballater in Scotland for our first holiday. On the afternoon of the first day we were in the grounds of Crathes Castle when he asked me if I wanted to change my surname. I replied that if he asked me properly then he would probably get the response he wanted! Next day we went ring shopping in Aberdeen. That night we were in a very expensive restaurant when he proposed just as the main course was about to be served.
He asked my dad’s permission the next morning over the phone and my dad made him get down on one knee! We are getting married in November 2002 and it won’t be soon enough.
