We met 5 years ago whilst working for the same company in West Yorkshire. We lost touch when we changed jobs and met up again 18 months ago!
How old are you both?
I’m 31, he’s 29.
Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?
On Halloween night 2004, at home – I’d been out at a concert and came home to find the lounge full of candles, a bottle of Champagne & 2 glasses by the fire and him on one knee!
Did you have hen and stag celebrations?
I had a pampering weekend at Ragdale Hall with our mums and the girls. Rich had a mountain biking week in Spain… I know which I’d prefer!
Did your groom help you with the wedding planning?
He was there every step of the way!
Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?
Certainly – it helped me keep track of numbers, who’d replied and who hadn’t – I don’t know where I’d be without the weekly reminders!
Do you have a confetti web page?
Yes.
Did you buy any confetti products for your wedding? If so, did you visit a store, buy online or by mail order?
I bought a few things online.
Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it.
It was 100% silk, designed around a couple of dresses I liked and made by a dressmaker in Doncaster.
Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?
My 3 oldest friends were bridesmaids; they wore long black satin dresses, very simple and elegant.
Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?
The best man was his brother Chris and the ushers were my brother and cousin. They all wore linen suits in the wedding colours.
Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?
Religious ceremony.
Where did you hold your ceremony?
St. Nicholas’ Parish Church, High Bradfield in Sheffield.
Where did you hold your reception?
At my parents home, where I grew up – perfect!
Did you have any special wedding transport?
We had 2 classic cars and a vintage bus for the wedding party.
How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?
170 in total – 100 on the day and a further 70 in the evening.
Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?
Yes, black, stone and PINK!
How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?
Pink flowers on every table and rose petals scattered with dove sprinkles.
Did you give your guests favours?
No, the kids got sweets though.
Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?
Stunning – pink lilies and dark pink Cala lilies with two toned roses.
What did you choose to have on your menu? Did you have an outside caterer or did your venue handle the catering?
We had an outside caterer to do a BBQ and hog roast!
What did you choose for your wedding cake?
A 3-tier round cake, bottom layer of chocolate with the rest in carrot cake. Covered with grenache frosting…yum, yum!
Did you have any entertainment during the day or evening?
We had a funky jazz band from Sheffield from 6.30pm.
Did you have a gift list? If so, who did you have your list with?
Trailfinders.
Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?
Our first night was spent in a hotel in Sheffield and then we honeymooned in Australia for 3 months!
What was your most memorable moment of the day?
Seeing my husband-to-be’s face as I walked down the aisle!
Did you experience any ‘nightmare’ moments in the run up to your wedding or on the day?
Only on the morning of the wedding – a few hiccups with suppliers but it all worked out great in the end.
Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?
Nothing, the day was perfect. All I’d say to other brides is keep a scrap book. A good friend bought me one when we’d set the date and I used it to store all my thoughts and ideas for the day. It’s a nice keepsake afterwards too!
