Carolyn and Rob Real Engagement Story

Rob and I met each other through the internet. We first began talking in January 1998 and met face to face on February 16th 1998. We clicked instantly and I knew pretty soon that we had something special.

For Valentines Day 1999 we had arranged to go to Alton Towers Hotel for a Valentine Special weekend which is held there. A week or so before, we had talked about getting engaged, but Rob said he wanted to surprise me, so he wouldn’t tell me when he planned to do it. One day, he said that he would love to do it on the weekend away but he wouldn’t have the money for the> ring until he was paid, a few days after Valentines, and he couldn’t propose without the ring. I totally believed him.

When we got to our room at the hotel, we decided to exchange gifts. He sat me on the bed and gave me CD of "Angels" – our song and a copy of my favourite film. He then gave me the card. The P.S. said, "Will you marry me?" Thinking he wasn’t supposed to be proposing yet, the penny didn’t drop and I did a little laugh and said, "I’ll have to think about it". I looked up> at him and in his hand was a ring box. He took my hand, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was so perfect I burst in to tears. Later I asked him how he had managed to get the ring. He had borrowed the money of his Dad because he wanted to do it on our Valentine Weekend. And a few days later was our first anniversary, so it was a great few days.

We really are soul mates and I love telling people that we met on the> Internet!
