Ceinwen and Adam Real King Arthur Hotel, Gower Wedding

When was your wedding?

9th April 2009

How and when did you meet?

We meet in 2001 at the seaside resort of Tenby in South Wales. Adam was on holiday with his family and I was on a night out.

How old are you both?

I’m now 25 and Adam 34

Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?

We visited Tenby on our 6th anniversary (October 2007) and Adam wrote in the sand “will you marry me” but the tide came in and washed it away so he had to do it 3 times!!!!

Did you have hen and stag celebrations? If so, what did you do?

No neither of us wanted one ‐ too much hassle!

How did your groom help with the wedding planning?

Adam made all the stationery (he has much more patience than me!). Other than that I narrowed choices down and he got to “help” to make the final decision.

Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?

Yeah ‐ everything got used, in particular the forums!

Did you buy any confetti products for your wedding? If so, did you visit a store, buy online or by mail order?

Yes, we visited the Leeds store!

Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it

I had a Benjamin Roberts 705 and bought it at a shop in Swansea but I had it altered elsewhere.

Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?

Yes, I had two flower girls who are Adam’s nieces ‐ they were 6 and 10. We got the dresses from Monsoon‐ fell in love with them! I also had my three best mates ‐ they wore Dessy dress and I loved them!

Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?

Adam didn’t have a best man as he couldn’t choose! We had our brothers as ushers and Adam’s oldest friend as our third usher. We hired the suits from Dyfen Menswear ‐ fab!

Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?

Civil ceremony

Where did you hold your ceremony?

King Arthur Hotel, Gower, Swansea

Where did you hold your reception?

Same place

Did you have any special wedding transport?

We hired two Beetles to match my bridesmaid’s Beetle too ‐one old and one new! Lovebug ‐it was fab!

How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?

We had 80 guests but on the day 69 came ‐ the travel from Leeds to Swansea was too much for some guests.

Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?

Yes ‐ we went for black & ivory with a hint of gold/daffodil yellow

How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?

We had a simple candle on a black place mat ‐ stylish and simple.

Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?

We had white roses (Yorkshire flower ‐ Adam is from Leeds) and daffodil (my fave and its the Welsh flower). Our florist was Elizabeth Gordon ‐ she was fab!

What did you choose to have on your menu? Did you have an outside caterer or did your venue handle the catering?

We wanted simple‐ leek & potato soup for starter, welsh beef & yorkshire pud and broccoli & cream cheese parcel for us veggies and then guests had the choice of apple & blackberry crumble or raspberry cheese cake! All was very nice!

What did you choose for your wedding cake, and who made it?

We had a 4 tier fruit cake which was made by my mum’s friend ‐ it was so lovely!

Did you have any entertainment during the day or evening?

Yes,we had a magician & casino ‐ it was very good!

Did you have a gift list? If so, who did you have your list with?

We had one with Trailfinders as we are hoping to return to Australia where we visited in 2005.

Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?

We stayed at the hotel for the first night and then went to Bath for two nights by using Tesco clubcards ‐ so didn’t cost a penny!

What was your most memorable moment of the day?

The whole day!

Did you experience any “nightmare” moments in the run up to your wedding or on the day?

Yeah ‐ major dress issues, I didn’t like it and it needed major alterations ‐ plus the shop went bust! On the day the registrar wasn’t very professional and upset me so much that he spoilt the ceremony!
