Clair and Michael Real Engagement Story
After several months of being single, I decided to take the plunge and look at dating websites. I saw one particular guy who sounded and looked perfect and paid up so that I could contact him. I ‘teased’ him and he contacted me back. We kept missing each other online and Michael suggested a cyber date at 7pm that Sunday.
We were both several minutes late, but got chatting soon enough. The chat went well – we exchanged phone numbers and I agreed to call him the next day. It took me a couple of hours night to pluck up the courage, but a couple of glasses of wine later, I did the deed. Two hours later after a great conversation, we said farewell.
Over the course of the next week, the phone calls got longer and longer and the feeling of total excitement grew. I went away to my parents at the weekend and we became obsessive about talking to one another. Along with the endless text messages, I felt I was falling in love…with a man I hadn’t yet met! I had sleepless nights and couldn’t eat – all the symptoms were there and my parents thought it was hilarious!
Michael had asked to meet me at the airport on my return. I love the scenes in the film Love Actually of people greeting loved ones at the airport, so I thought this was really romantic. The anticipation was tremendous and my nerves were all over the place. So, with new clothes and armed with a couple of gifts, the meeting was about to take place.
Having fallen in love with Michael without meeting him, it was scary to say the least. I walked down the stairs and saw him there, glanced for long enough to recognise him and fell into his arms, hearts pounding and knees literally trembling. I looked up at his face and into his eyes and that was it!
That was ten weeks ago. We haven’t been apart since and my life has changed so profoundly and so wonderfully, it’s a dream come true. Michael is a dream come true. If I could piece together the perfect man, he’s it.
I moved into his house several weeks later. A couple of weeks after that, he proposed. We’ve got the rings and set the date for 20th May 2005. We’ve just returned form a wonderful week in Cyprus where we emerged ourselves in each other, and I fall in love with him over again with each day that passes.
It’s the sort of thing you might hear or read about in magazines, I never expected this to happen to me. I knew he was the one as soon as I saw his face on that website, and it’s proved to be true. It’s been the most amazing experience ever, he makes me feel whole and I love him with all my heart!
