Emma and Tim Real Engagement Story
We had been going out two years when Tim proposed to me on the 23rd June 2000. We are now getting married in September 2000!
Tim had qualified for a conference at work in Rome, Italy and we booked a holiday to Ravello, the Amalfi Coast afterwards. During the first week, we spent quite a lot of time sightseeing and socialising with his work people, so when we went down to Ravello, we were quite relieved of the break.
Ravello was exceptionally beautiful and we quickly relaxed. We went out for romantic meals together, spent lazy days playing and resting on the beach. Then on the last night we went to a restaurant on the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea, the view was spectacular! When we finished our meal, we went for a walk and ended up sitting in a small garden perched high overlooking the Amalfi, when Tim turned around to me and said he had a really big question to ask me!
I went all warm inside and thought, ‘Oh my god!! Then he asked me to marry him, and of course I said yes!! Actually I said ‘without a shadow of a doubt’. I then found out that he had planned this all months ago. He had phoned and asked my dad for my hand in marriage and smuggled the ring on holiday (a beautiful platinum diamond ring). He had spent the whole of our time in Rome and Ravello panicking that I would find the ring hidden in his rucksack!
It was truly the most romantic and special night of my life! I had no idea. Since we have been back we have been busy planning our wedding which will be in Suffolk, now I can’t wait to marry the man I love so much!
