How and when did you meet?
We met at a kick boxing class which luke teaches.
Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?
He tried to propose by the beach but I got in the car because I was cold so it ended up happening in the front room at home!
Did you have hen and stag celebrations?
There were 14 hens and we went for food, then to a casino and then on to a club. The stags went for dinner and then on a pub crawl.
Did your groom help you with the wedding planning?
He paid for it! (ha ha!)
Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?
The weekly reminders were a God send as there was stuff on there that hadn’t even crossed my mind.
Do you have a confetti web page?
No, I never got round to it.
Did you buy any confetti products for your wedding? If so, did you visit a store, buy online or by mail order?
Yes, I got 24 cake bubbles online and they were a great hit with the kids.
Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it.
I got my dress from a shop in Southampton. I went to try on an oyster and red dress I had ordered but fell in love with an ivory dress with black detail and diamonte – wow!
Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?
We had our two girls who were wearing ivory and my older sister who was in black. They had cerise pink flowers.
Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?
The best man was Deggie who has been around forever, and the ushers were three relatives and a friend. They all wore black pinstriped suits with silver waistcoats and cravats, apart from the groom and best man who wore black cravats.
Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?
We had a religious ceremony.
Where did you hold your ceremony?
In a beautiful village church.
Where did you hold your reception?
South Wiltshire golf course.
Did you have any special wedding transport?
We had an old vintage Ford A in black and ivory, decorated with bright pink ribbon.
How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?
There were 114 for the day and another 105 joined us in the evening.
Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?
Our colour theme was black and white with a splash of bright pink. We put a lot of feathers in wine glasses and around the cake table.
How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?
For the men there were black and white tuxedo favors, and for the ladies we gave ivory hearts with a black ribbon.
Did you give your guests favours?
There were three chocolate hearts in each of the boxes.
Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?
I had a crystal bouquet tied with black and white ribbon. The two youngest bridesmaids had baskets, and my sister had a bouquet of cerise pink. I bought the flowers on ebay – they were wooden roses and a local girl made them up for me.
What did you choose to have on your menu? Did you have an outside caterer or did your venue handle the catering?
The venue did it all for us and for a great price. We had an informal cold buffet which everyone enjoyed.
What did you choose for your wedding cake?
I decided from day one I wanted a three-tier horse shoe shape, in ivory and them with a spray of babybreeze on each corner(pink and ivory. My mum had to make it and has said never again!
Did you have any entertainment during the day or evening?
We made our own during the day and then had quiet music from 6pm and a disco from 7.30pm
Did you have a gift list? If so, who did you have your list with?
As we both had our own houses to begin with and had been living together for four years we didn’t have a list – we just said that there were larger items we wanted and if anyone wanted to contribute they could.
Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?
Our first night was spent in a local hotel called The Grasmewe and our honeymoon was a cruise around the Med.
What was your most memorable moment of the day?
Getting my sister to go under my dress and adjust my creeping underwear – not very lady like I know but it was extremey funny…and the vows of course.
Did you experience any ‘nightmare’ moments in the run up to your wedding or on the day?
Only that it was raining all morning and dark and gloomy. 30 minutes before I left for church it dried up and the sun came out!
Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?
I was so relaxed all morning but I think a little too much as it became a bit of a mad panic about an hour befor the wedding. Remember to take a step back every hour or so to take it all in, otherwise the day will go so quickly and you wont remember much about it – that was the best advice I was given.
