Jane and Paul Real Engagement Story
Paul and I have been together for 8 years now and we have owned a house for 6 of them. It took us a while to get around to making things more permanent but all of a sudden it seemed to be the right time. We had discussed getting engaged for a few weeks before the actual proposal but it was still a big surprise.
Paul works on Saturday mornings so I decided to catch up on a bit of painting. Anyway, there I am, all dressed in my scruff when Paul phones and tells me to expect a delivery of some fence panels for the garden. I thought this was a bit sudden but we needed them so I said okay.
About an hour later, a florist turned up with a massive bouquet of roses. The card had a little rhyme on it telling me to go to my parent’s house.
When I got to my parents house I found a box of chocolates with another rhyme on it telling me to go to Whisley Gardens in Surrey (about 40 miles away).
Anyway, off I went and there I found Paul, with a bottle of Moet and Chandon, a picnic and the most beautiful engagement ring I’ve ever seen. (2 1/3 carat diamonds set in 18 carat gold. It was made in 1920).
He proposed there in the sun and we spent the rest of the afternoon, walking round the gardens. It was great.
So even after 8 years, there is still a lot of romance in our relationship. We get married in 6 weeks time on the 22nd September, and I’m looking forward to it more than anything in the world!
