Janine and Matt Real Engagement Story

In December last year, I entered a competition on Capital Radio for a trip to New York.
I said if I won the prize I would propose to my boyfriend, Matt! Well, I actually won two tickets to New York in the competition and, on air I made a promise to propose to him when I was there. Secretly I was panicking! Despite three years of being together and knowing I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him, there was no way I wanted to be the one to propose – although I’d almost given up waiting for him to do it!

I was so excited about going to New York as I’d never been but I was a bit concerned about the proposal promise. We flew out for a weekend in January and we had the most amazing time. On the second to last day, catching me totally unawares whilst we were in Central Park, he suddenly grabbed me, sat me down and very shyly got down on one knee. It was such an emotional and romantic moment.

Once I’d got over the shock and we’d celebrated with some champagne we went to Tiffany’s, where we chose my ring and spent the rest of the trip celebrating.

New York will always have very special memories for us and I can’t wait to go back. Now we’re right in the middle of planning our wedding, which is taking place on September 17th this year and I can’t wait!
