18/06/2005
Christ the King Roman Catholic Church
How and when did you meet?
We met in Liverpool in a nightclub.
How old are you both?
I’m 33 and Joseph is 36.
Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?
It was just out of the blue, in pub over a casual conversation, nothing too romantic although we have been together for 12 years already.
Did you have hen and stag celebrations?
My hen weekend was in Dublin and Liverpool City Centre, and Joe went to Haydock Racing.
Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?
No, but I did think some of the advice was helpful.
Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it.
I had a Ronald Joyce Wedding Dress, with a cathedral train, with three small gold roses attached to the back.
Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?
I had five bridesmaids: all our god-daughters and my best friend as my chief bridesmaid. The three older bridesmaids had gold dresses and the two little ones had gold and cream.
Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?
Joe had his best friend James, and his brother and my brother.
Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?
We got married in church.
Where did you hold your ceremony?
Christ the King Roman Catholic Church.
Where did you hold your reception?
The Tudor Rooms.
Did you have any special wedding transport?
We had 2 Rolls Royces for the bridesmaids and we had a Beaufort Rolls.
How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?
In the day we had 65 and in the evening we had about 150, so altogether about 215 people.
Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?
No just plain and simple – that’s what I wanted, nothing too over the top. In the evening we had gold and cream balloons.
How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?
Yes we give all our day guests miniature favours with gold ribbons attached.
Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?
I had cream roses and gypsy grass in my bouquet; the three older bridesmaids also had cream roses in their bouquets; the guests had cream gerberas; Joe, his best man and the ushers had cream with a hint of gold decoration on theirs. We used Susan’s Florist and she was excellent.
What did you choose to have on your menu? The venue handled the catering.
What did you choose for your wedding cake?
The venue handled the catering.
Did you have any entertainment during the day or evening?
We had a 3-tiered sponge cake made by a friend.
Did you have a gift list? If so, who did you have your list with?
We just had a disco in the evening.
Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?
We spent our first night in a hotel in Liverpool and then went on our honeymoon to the Dominican Republic.
What was your most memorable moment of the day?
Walking down the aisle.
Did you experience any ‘nightmare’ moments in the run up to your wedding or on the day?
No.
Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?
No, everything was worth all the planning, and if I could do it again I would. My advice to other brides is enjoy every minute of it because it goes so fast, and don’t let anyone tell you what you should or should not have – it’s your day so enjoy it and good luck.
